"Letting the Monster In" - AP Art Concentration Portfolio

This piece is the first piece of 12 to be viewed in this portfolio. It is 8" x 9.75" and was created using acrylic paint. In this piece, I wanted to capture that moment when people let in the monstrous parts of themselves (whether it be due to mental illness, trauma, etc.), because they are tired of fighting and just need to wallow before they can defeat their monster.

Portfolio Summary:
Humans. Every single one of them lives a beautiful, painful life, yet there are always these moments in our lives that can connect us to one another. For instance, everyone can remember a moment when someone embarrassed them as a kid. We all know what that feels like, how one wants to hide their burning red cheeks and run away. It is moments like these - ones of intense, unfiltered, and paradoxically personal and universal human emotion - that I try to capture in my Concentration Portfolio.
