"I don't know what compels me / To do the very thing that fells me" is exactly how I felt about this piece which has taken 2 years to fully and finally finish. It started out as a doomed sketch and incomplete watercolor, but then it took a new shape as I used this piece to learn how to even do digital art decently. It has been an experience, but it was worth it. Because now I've completed this fan art of Tessa Violet, which was inspired by her album and song, "Bad Ideas"! Specifically, I really loved her music video for the song, and all her music videos by proxy, because they all use color in a way which seems headache-inducing, but is actually really cool and calming. And consequently because I was obsessed with the show Orphan Black at the time and how they showed the design of different characters played by the same actress, this idea of using panels to separate characters/environments came about. Long story short, the panels are backgrounds from Tessa's music video for "Bad Ideas" and her whole album is a bop (which is a slang-word I dislike using, so that just shows how catchy and honest her songs must be).
This piece is 19" by 25", because I'm stubborn and it didn't want to fit a proper poster size. Creating the digital piece must have taken at least 3 weeks of working every day on it and I worked on it using Gravit Designer. But wow, did I learn how to shade, blur, and light things!
